Points for attention

1. Let’s learn about food
Learn about how the connections between food and living things, the fishing industry, and the environment that surrounds them through games and virtual experiences.
Aim for a big catch!
- Select between "bottom trawl fishing" or "round haul net fishing" and touch the screen.
- Select the season and touch the screen.
- Press the fish finder button to search for some fish!
- Touch the area where the fish are to move the boat there.
- After you catch some fish, you can go sell them in the market! Touch 「市場に行く」 "Go to the market."
sambanze Time Travel
Let’s ride a boat back to sambanze during the Edo era and spread out a drag net. Then, we can take our big catch of the fresh fish that have been caught in the net and present it to the shogun nobleman.
- Stand on the foot button to get started.
- Step on the buttons underneath your feet to move the fishing boat to the right or to the left. Do a good job spreading out the net while avoiding obstacles! You can move the boat to the left by stepping on the red button, and to the right by stepping on the yellow button.
- Pull on the rope and raise the net together with the fishermen.
- Try to pull in time with the fishermen’s shout of encouragement: 「よいしょ!」"Yoisho!"

3. Let’s compare
Let’s have a hands-on comparison of the various shapes, sizes, movements, and habits of Sanbanze's living things.
Compare the size of the living things
Birds that soar through the sky, fish that swim through the sea, and shellfish that hide under the sand. At Sanbanze, there are living creatures of various sizes. How big are they?
- One square is 10 cm, try adding them up!
Line up your Creature Card
- Select between one player or two players, and touch the screen.
- Touch the picture and select the same living thing.
Compare the movement of the living things
Compare the size of your body
- When the countdown begins, strike any pose you like and take a picture. Make sure to keep your feet on the foot marks on the floor.
- Enter your body height and weight.
- Tough to select the living things you want to compare with!
What’s in the tidal flat
What is your home like?
The tidal flat is a world of its own; one pulled in by the tide with its whole surface made of sand and mud. But the area teams with life, as creatures such as shellfish and bristle worms burrow nestling holes for themselves and live there. The shape and depth of the nestling holes is different depending on the type of living thing, giving the impression that the surface of the tidal flat is connected by the holes. But who lives in which nestling hole?
4. Let’s do some collecting
Chase the flow of the water, peek inside of the box. Find out about Funabashi and Sanbanze.
Sanbanze Aqua Trip
- Take the electrode pole and put it in the start position.
- Push the red start switch at the bottom.
- Avoid touching the rail while making a clockwise rotation.
- Every time that you touch the rail, you will lose five points.
- Play time is for 90 seconds.
- If you reach the goal within 90 seconds without touching the rail, you win earn 100 points.
- Let’s go on a trip into the water and aim to get 100 points!
- After you reach the goal, be sure to return the electrode pole to the holder!

5. Let's imitate
Take a close look at the living things of Sanbanze and imitate them! Put on a beak and tail and make friends with the inhabitants of Sanbanze.

- Let’s imitate the shape of the living thing that’s been chosen!
- You can find hints on how to pose on the right side of the screen!
- Try you best and maybe you can score 100 points!
- Line up your feet and stand in such a way that your body is in the middle of the screen.
- After your positioning is correct, the game will begin!
Beak collection
What are they eating with those beaks?
The birds of the tidal flat eat bristle worms, crabs, shellfish, fish, and more. The shape of their beaks matches the hardness of the sand and mud, as well as the depth of the nestling holes, where the living things that will become their food are found. The shape makes it easy for them to get their food.

A collection of Sanbanze’s... bums?
How does the area that appears to be the bums of the living things found in Sanbanze differ from the human bum? Birds and fish have tails and fins, and there are many shapes and ways to use them.

Creatures made of seashells and driftwood come alive on a gigantic screen. Also, the movie "The History of Sanbanze and the Actions of Living Things" is shown at the theatre.

How to make living things
- Decide what to use for the body.
- Set it against the background paper and take a picture.
- Choose the arms, legs, and face.
- Give your creature a name.
- Move to the Imagination Theater and have fun together!

A dynamic exhibition of the living things in Sanbanze. Let’s explore what kind of living things there are through the Wild Bird Call Player and the Sanbanze Digital Picture Book.

11. Tangible Earth
If you touch the Tangible Earth globe and move it one 16th of a millionth of its actual size, you can experience a projection of the various kinds of nature and the actions of the living things in the habitat.
How to enjoy the Tangible Earth

- Place your hand on the globe, and move it by pressing down with some force and pushing it in the direction you want it to go.
- The trick is not let your hand slide over it!

- Select from among the contents found on the tablet and touch your choice.
